What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator’s price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with Connemara National Park or the National Parks and Wildlife Service, with Kylemore Abbey or the Kylemore Trust, with the Office of Public Works, or with any of the places these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is the platform’s own, and we keep it only where the tour’s figures support it: a Top rated badge stays only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher. Lally Tours sells its Kylemore day on both platforms, and Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours sells its choose-one day on both under two different titles. Both listings of each appear, because each is separately bookable and priced.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different ways to spend a day in Connemara — Kylemore Abbey with the ticket in the fare, three hours in the national park for a lower fare, and a private car for your own group — each for a different kind of traveller.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 17 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Everything is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. The shared days, the multi-day tours, the private guided hike and the private e-bike day are priced per person. The private cars and the minibus hire are priced per group.

Where we state a fact about a place, it comes from that place’s own official pages: nationalparks.ie for Connemara National Park, heritageireland.ie for Aughnanure Castle, and connemara.ie for the roads, the Gaeltacht and the buses. Kylemore Abbey’s website does not answer automated requests, so its pages were read from dated copies held by the Internet Archive (web.archive.org). Climate figures are Met Éireann’s 1991–2020 averages for Belmullet (met.ie), the nearest Atlantic station; the Connemara mountains are wetter. Where a detail comes from an operator’s listing, such as a meeting point, a group size or a stop, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

Kylemore Abbey’s adult ticket price. The abbey’s own ticket pages print no figure, and other websites disagree. The only figure we print is the one Galway Tour Company’s listing gives for its own day, attributed to it.
Kylemore’s child, family and student prices. Ask at the visitor centre.
Bus timetables and journey times. We name the Bus Éireann and Citylink routes and leave the times to the operators, whose schedules change. How the routes fit a day without a tour is on getting to Connemara.
A road distance from Galway to Clifden. We print the national park’s and the abbey’s own distances instead.
The depth of Killary Harbour, and any claim that it is Ireland’s only fjord. Discover Ireland names it one of three glacial fjords in the country, so we call it the fjord at Killary. Its length, about 16 km, is Discover Ireland’s figure; a boat company on the fjord gives 15 km.
